The brilliant Renaissance philosophers Niccolò Machiavelli’s work “The Mandrake” is a comedy about the bustling life of Florence, its ethos, mannerisms and its ancient topics about passion, gambles and hazards. The comedy is closely connected with the plant mandrake (Mandragora officinarum) which contains effective alkaloids and in ancient times people revered it as a powerful symbol of love. The play also possesses a part of irony abot Niccolò Machiavelli’s philosophical treatises often mentioned political themes – lies, money, absolute denial of morality, the reaching of selfish goals despite all else. “The politics of love or love in politics, what does it end with or does it never end?!”

„OBESSION OF STELLA POLARIS”
Selection of pseudomythological author tales by Arvo Valton
With the performance „Obsession of Stella Polaris“, Tartu Student Theatre is attempting to tell stories without being too wordy, using mostly the language of physical theatre.
So what are those boreal pseudotales about? Shortly, about everything and nothing, about meaningful and meaningless things, about the human greatness and vanity. Stories with a fair share of wonders, gray mundanity, and a pinch of ruminations and observations that might have great importance or none at all. What we may see and hear here is an everocurring creation, being and loss, of which people, world and everything that lies therein, takes part of. Similarly to the Valton’s short stories, which are inspired by different motifs from folklore of various peoples, the „language“ of our performance is also borrowed from different sources. We’re using elements from eastern theatre genres and mixing it with elements of clowning and contemporary movement-based performance techniques.
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University’s Student Theater
Student Theater “Theatron” is functioning since 1980. Its repertoire is diverse. The band often takes part in international theater festivals. Theater is staffed by students of different professions.
Marc Camoletti “Family Ideal” was first a smash hit in Paris and then later London’s longest running comedy ever. Set in a stylishly converted French farm building. Bernard hopes to entertain his chic mistress while his wife Jacqueline visits her mother. He has hired a cook for the evening and even invited along his best friend, Robert, as a suitable alibi. Perfect planning, or so he thinks. Supposing the wife and Robert are secret lovers and she decides to stay home after learning he is about to arrive? And what if the cook and the mistress, whose names are confusingly similar (Suzette and Suzanne), are mistaken for each other and have to exchange roles for the evening? Add to that the unexpected appearance of a jealous husband, and you have the recipe for an hilarious evening.
In role: Mariam Kikava. Irakli Katamadze, Mikheil Jincharadze, Nino Chkhikvadze, Tamar Gorgoshadze.
Directed by Roin Dvali.
Duration 45 minutes.

Performance “Thru body” is an ironic view of the contemporary situation. It is aphasia when words do not come across the lips, but they should be shouted out. A question “What do we do ?!” remains unanswered .We just tourchure each other from birth to death.
Premiere in May2017 in Buenos airos (Argentina)
In December 2015 Jelgava’s Student theatre was participating in international student theatre festival “The Mask 2015” which happened in Tbilisi, Georgia.
